Opportunities in journalism, marketing, and gaining experience in libraries and galleries – all from Creative Scotland.

creative scotland 2For anyone with an interest in the wide range of opportunities which come under the broad heading – ‘creative and media industries’ – then I wanted to flag up the mine of arts information, inspiration and opportunities which is Creative Scotland.

I was particularly impressed with the crop of opportunities on offer in their latest email bulletin which landed in my inbox this week, and wanted to share some of them with you.

I see many students – of English and other PPLS subjects (eg Lee, the philosophy grad with a passion for journalism featured in my last post)  –  with an interest in journalism in And now there’s an opportunity for you to gain paid experience in a particular hard-to-find-experience-in area – arts journalism! Take a look at this particular opportunity….Paid Arts columnist

Marketing is another area of interest to PPLS grads (read about Rachael’s career to date in marketing). Digital and social media marketing is a big growth area, and now’s an opportunity to gain experience at the Edinburgh Festival via a position as digital marketing assistant for Assembly Festival

Library and Information work is another area considered by some PPLS grads and there’s a great opportunity to volunteer over the summer with the National Library of Scotland here in Edinburgh – though you’ll have to hurry – closing date is 19th June (tomorrow as I write)!

And finally, if it’s exhibition and gallery management you’re interested in, you can gain experience by volunteering with Interview Room 11 in Edinburgh over the summer.

These are just a few of the many interesting opportunities which you can find via the Creative Scotland opportunities section, or sign up via their site for your own weekly digest delivered directly to your inbox.
