What is CCCF?
The Creative and Cultural Careers Festival is our award winning, week-long festival of events running from Monday 27 February to Friday 3 March! This is your chance to hear what life is like working in the Creative and Cultural Sectors, make vital contacts with industry professionals and to find out more about employment opportunities.

Over the coming weeks I’ll be featuring different events on the blog – and highlighting connections to PPLS. First off is Working in Digital Media & Advertising.

Working in Digital Media & Advertising. 

The growth in ways we consume information and target consumers has generated a huge shift in marketing, digital media and advertising and a wealth of new, innovative career paths for graduates. Come and meet our panel who will discuss their job roles and showcase the wide and varied opportunities in this sector. After short presentations from our industry speakers, there’ll be the opportunity to question the panel.

David Hartmann, Co-Founder & Creative Director, Werewolf

David Hartmann is an award winning designer, animator and educator who strives to share knowledge and to facilitate others exceptional abilities through the medium of storytelling and visual communication. Co-founder & Creative Director of the motion design studio Werewolf (, David constantly endeavours to incorporate technology and design in the moving image experience to enhance client’s brand communication.

Mickael Paris, Head of Digital Marketing, Standard Life

Mickael Paris is Head of Digital Marketing at long term savings and investment specialists Standard Life. He has worked his whole career in digital marketing and has built up a bank of experience through both start-ups and larger corporates. He started his career with Oracle Maxymiser, one of the leading providers of website optimisation solutions. He went on to join Skyscanner, the flight comparison site, where his focus was on taking it to market in France. He is now working at Standard Life, focussing on taking the company to a leading position in the online pensions and investments sector. Originally from sunny France, Mickael has been living in Scotland for 11 years.

Brian Coane, Chairman, IPA

Brian Coane, Chairman, IPA for Scotland.The IPA for Scotland is widely recognised as the world’s most influential professional body for practitioners in advertising, marketing and media communications. Brian is also Partner at The Leith Agency where he leads some of the agency’s largest integrated accounts covering projects from brand development through to multi-media campaigns. He led the agency team that created the campaigns for Glasgow 2014 selling over 1 million tickets and making them the best Commonwealth Games ever. He has over 10 years experience of working on social marketing with a focus on health campaigns including the ground-breaking campaign to introduce the ban on smoking in public places in Scotland.

Lisa Venter, Content Strategist & Email Marketing Manager, Skyscanner

Lisa Venter graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Journalism which ironically coincided with the height of a spate of newsroom journalist redundancies in South Africa so she jumped into a job managing website content followed by working at an agency learning SEO, content strategy, account management and blogger outreach. Following a few good years managing Media Relations at ESPC in Edinburgh she went on to take a risk running online marketing for a small start-up which was followed by the chance of a lifetime to work at Skyscanner, one of the most successful UK start-ups. Lisa is currently managing the email marketing strategy for around 20 countries in Europe and the Americas based in Skyscanner’s Growth Tribe in Edinburgh.

Margarita Hadjimarcou Head of Client Services, iProspect

Margarita is Associate Director – Head of Client Services at iProspect in Edinburgh. She has been working in media and communications for 12 years with the last 5 years focusing on Digital Marketing. Margarita has worked with a wide range of clients such as Bupa, Windows Phone, Bacardi, Martini, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Royal Mail, Branston, DairyCrest, Exxon Mobile, TD Direct, Jamaican Tourist Board and PartyPoker.
